IMPACT Centre of Competence

What is the IMPACT Centre of Competence?

The IMPACT Project will set up a Centre of Competence to continue work after the project has ended (from 2011 onwards). The IMPACT Centre of Competence will provide a one stop shop for sharing of best practice in the digitisation of historical texts for all involved in mass-digitisation and full-text generation. This will be in the form of information sharing, tool demos and online training.

  • IMPACT makes digitisation of historical printed text in Europe better, faster, cheaper by sharing expertise and providing access to tools for all parts of the digitisation workflow
  • IMPACT provides tools, services and facilities for further advancement of the State of the Art in this field

The current website will undergo a redesign before being launched as the platform for the IMPACT Centre of Competence after the summer of 2011. Other channels of communication of the IMPACT Centre of Competence will include Twitter ( and LinkedIn (group ‘IMPACT – Improving Access to Text’).
